Local
For nearly five decades, The Merc Co+op has been connecting our community to local growers, suppliers, farmers and those who produce with health, sustainability, ethics and community in mind.
Products labeled local have been raised, grown or made within 200 miles of The Merc Co+op stores. We take pride in our partnerships with hundreds of local businesses in our neighborhood. These relationships allow us more transparency in product standards and growing practices to better serve our owners and shoppers.
Co+op Basics
Co+op Basics offers everyday low prices on essential grocery and household items. From chicken to cereal to paper towels, you’ll find both new value-priced brands as well as new low prices on some old favorites.
Field Day
Our Field Day line of products is part of Co+op Basics. This private label is part of our partnership with co-op’s across the country to make high quality foods more accessible. You will find everything from pantry essentials and eco-friendly household products to healthy snacks and kids’ favorites in our line-up.
Field Day offers various dietary options including gluten free, fat free, no sodium, and no sugar added to ensure that we fulfill all of your family’s needs. The one thing you’ll never be without is great taste!

reading Food Labels
Deciphering labels while shopping can be confusing. This helpful glossary includes common terms you’ll find on everyday food labels so you can get to the bottom of what you’re buying and eating. When in doubt, ask your co-op staff about how your food was produced, or contact the producers to find out more about their methods.
Product Suggestions
As a cooperative, we believe in the power of economic democracy. Rather than impose boycotts or ban ingredients, shoppers voice their opinions and vote with their purchases.
We encourage shoppers to make product requests for things they would like to see us carry! Fill out our form at the button below to make a suggestion.
Special Orders
We are happy to take special orders for products that we do not carry* as well as items that you wish to have in large quantities.
To place a special order, please contact us at 785-843-8544 and we will connect you with the appropriate department. You will receive a call when your order has arrived.
*Availability may vary. Special order pricing will only apply during the sales period in which they occur. Special orders may not be returned or exchanged.
Returns
Should you find that a product does not meet our standards for freshness or is in some way defective, we will consider offering a replacement or issuing a refund.
You must have a store receipt to be issued a refund. In the absence of a receipt, only store credit or a gift card will be granted. Items that are opened or damaged or do not have a receipt may be denied a refund or exchange.
Checks — Please allow 14 days after original purchase to give a cash refund. Before 14 days, a store credit or a gift card may be granted.
Credit and Debit — For returns under $10, a cash refund may be granted. For refunds over $10, we will provide a gift card or refund the purchase amount back on the original payment card. We cannot refund to a different credit or debit card.
Cash — is given back as cash or gift card.
Special orders may not be returned or exchanged. Local holiday turkeys cannot be returned or exchanged.
