Molasses Crisps

Perfect for heart shaped cut out cookies. A family favorite for a very long time!

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 honey
  • 1/4 cup light molasses
  • 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

Combine melted butter, honey, and molasses. Sift together remaining ingredients and stir into butter mixture. Chill dough thoroughly. Divide dough into several smaller amounts and roll out on floured pastry cloth to approximately 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out with cookie cutter. Place on lightly oiled cookie sheet and bake in 350 degrees F oven for approximately 10 to 12 minutes.

Keep a watchful eye on these cookies—they can burn in a heartbeat. Allow to cool completely—they will become very crisp.

Makes about four to six dozen cookies depending on the size of your cookie cutter.
